In 1857 LUIGI RIZZI establishes in Modena, the hearth of the Padana valley, " Le Officine Meccaniche Rizzi". With the production of iron alloys for the construction of railway materials, the firm gives an important contribution to the expansion and development of the Italian railway network.

After the Second World War, with the strength of its long experience, the firm returns to founding in cast-iron, this time for the production of machine tools - splendid examples of advanced technology.

This leads to the designs for "reduction gear for drums" which mark the beginning of what will become a long and fruitful collaboration between Rizzi and the world of tanneries.

Immediately afterwards, Rizzi produces the first hydraulically controlled machine for leather processing. We are at a technological turning-point: Rizzi patented hydraulics revolutionize the construction concepts of machines for tanneries. And so Rizzi becomes the first business in the world to equip its machines with variable volume hydraulic motors, pumps, solenoid valves, pressure and flow control valves for the tanning industry. During the following years, with continual research and technological innovation, Rizzi makes its name in the world markets and becomes the reference standard.

139 years of activity 52 of which have been dedicated to the construction of machines for the tanning industry, have confirmed Rizzi that staying ahead requires constant dedication to the experimentation of new ideas, with a clear vision of the present and a far-sighted view of the future. With this philosophy and with its highly qualified staff, the firm, having innovated all the traditional models of production for processes ranging from fleshing to setting out and sammying after dyeing, is now developing new technologies to maintain its leading role in the market.
